Just a few helpful tips from the Fire Marshal and the Fire Department
- Fire Extinguishers: inspections are out of date (inspected once a year or after use) or they are not in the proper locations
- Emergency lights: back up battery’s dead or light bulbs broken
- Exit signs: back up battery’s dead, sign cracked or broken
- Fire alarms: must be serviced once a year and have your paperwork on location
- Sprinkler system: must be inspected and have paperwork on location for review
- Extension cords/multi plug adapters: extension cords cant be used as a permanent wire and multi plug adapters are not permitted
- Cleanliness: keep all areas clean of debris or anything that could cause a fire
- Electrical panels: panels must have a clearance of 36 inches. It is so the brakers can be accessed quickly in a emergency
- Cooking hood systems: must be cleaned on a regular basis so that grease does not build up and cause a fire
- Blocked egress doors: keep all egress doors clear, especially all Emergency doors. A blocked door could cause injury or death in a emergency
